My Plea

Dear terrorist,

I am a very harmless guy who works in a Company that has its HQ in the UK (not the US). I am a hindu by birth and believe me I had no control over that. Had I known what future had in store for me I would have definitely requested God to send me to a ‘religionless’ home. If you are wondering what I mean by that, then it means I would have requested God to have me born as a tribal in a remote place in Amazon or somewhere in Greenland. Trust me I still have your good interests in my mind. I won’t be a part of any prospering country or a citizen of the country owing much to its history and diversity exercises some amount of tolerance to these activities.

Since the innocence in my birth is settled, I would like to clarify another very important aspect. I admire your religion very much. I totally believe in all that is said in the Quran and am ready to agree that it is the greatest religion ever. I am not sure you want people converted into that religion. Because when you decide to line up people and shoot them indiscriminately I have no way of proving it to you or the bullet that I am from the privileged lot. Your past experience proves that you kill them anyway. So I guess it doesn’t matter.

I know what can definitely save me. I can join your forces. But I think I don’t qualify for that at all. You see I was not born in Afghanistan or Pakistan or something like that. I was not born in a household that barely manages 2 meals a day. I am religious but I am guessing you would not care much for that. By virtue of my birth I am totally opposite to possessing the fire in me to protect my religion. I am of the belief that the religion protects me. You can blame the sad educated society I came from that instilled such hideous non-violent beliefs in me. So I guess I cannot be molded or trained in the life sacrificing way of life that you practice.

I still want to make it very clear that I hold you in the utmost respect. Your brave attempts of secretly entering places were innocent people live and terrorize them with arms and ammunition and have them under a constant tension between life and death is thoroughly commended by me. I even admire your exquisitely meticulous planning and pinpoint accurate execution of your missions in which, I am sure, you definitely surpass the target number of kills and deaths with minimum resources. What’s even more exciting is you can totally exercise your power by killing the guy standing opposite, who is carrying a Reynolds pen while you carry an Ak-47. I am indebted to you for changing the meaning of war in the modern day where the wars are waged against normal citizens of a country. Who cares about the manhood of being at war and facing the enemy and killing them? Our impotent guerilla attacks are still just as potential in killing people.

Hence I sincerely request you to spare me when you attack next time. Because by the time my country tightens and reacts it will be the next generation and my son will be writing a mail to you. I would like to live my complete miserable life and rot till natural death takes me while you take all the people I have loved and kill them one by one. Else there wont be anyone who will wake you up from your grave and remind you that you gave up your life doing the one thing that God was even created in the first place for, to unite everybody.

With you till we rot in hell.

The story of the storytellers

Dork: The Incredible Adventures of Robin Einstein Varghese If Chetan Bhagat didn’t do enough to inspire me and confuse me, Sidin Vadukut has just taken it to another level. Let me tell you a little bit about the “CAT” grind. Any averagely informed MBA seeker will realize that there are 6 institutes located in 6 different places of India that abbreviate to 3 letters and one has to master an entrance test, again abbreviated to three letters, to get through the portals of the apex institutes of the management world in India. Once you join a coaching centre it pretty much becomes clear that if the picture of IIM Ahmedabad does not feature next to your beloved family deities then you aren’t really serious about your classes in these institutes which will put you through a psychological toughness that is required to endure 2 hours which will largely constitute inability to answer most questions. Once you come out you feel like shit and feel much better when you see the thousand odd students ...

Why Chelsea?

I’ve often held this grouse against Liverpool and Manchester United’s fans that when you tend to have a discussion with them they bring out the reference of the “glory” days of the clubs. Man U in some respects have continued their supremacy owing to the twin factors of a tenacious manager and some poor performances of their rivals. But Liverpool as long as I have followed the league have been very patchy. They throw in some brilliant unstoppable performances some times and play utterly clueless football at other times. There is no denying the glorious history of the club. They have been the club with the most number of premier league titles and a history that’s etched in stone and full of achievements. If anybody does begin giving me a lesson on the history of football where the club that I follow features very little in, one would still find an ardent listener in me, because ‘we love this game'. But to all those people who have followed the glory days of Arsenal and Liverpool,...

Have you been a victim of attraction?

Have you been a victim of attraction? It is so tempting that even if u are made of steel, u’ve got to sway. It’s irresistible. It is seductive. It keeps luring you away. Attraction is usually for something, for example you are attracted to a particular object or person. Attainment of the same isn’t half as fulfilling as what attraction does to us. That’s why Hope is such a wonderful thing. It keeps us in a dream land of belief that someday things will change. The concept of some day is so fantastic that it, in most cases, will lead you to inaction. The “some day” has to be created by you. Hoping is just the odor. The actual thing is the source of the sweetness. Odor just has a marijuana effect, hence fighting it is tremendously difficult. You need guts to overcome the lure of attraction. It is fancy to dream big but if you don’t know your route to achievement then your dream is just a movie that has flown you away one minute and crash lands you the next. But attraction in itself isn’...
