The Universe's way

“Sometimes when you reeeally reeeally want something, the Universe chooses to ignore you! :@ “

This was the status of one of my friends on facebook. This really got me thinking. Not because this is the first time I had heard something like this. On the contrary this is the exact line that seems to do a repeat telecast in my life like my own obsession of watching Friends over and over again. Yet, there is something profound about this statement. Well, we have heard something quite the opposite to be true too. “When we want something very badly, the whole universe conspires to get that to us”. These are often termed as miracles. Plenty of people have seen miracles happen in their lives. Some people have never seen miracles happen in their lives. But then, those some people never believed in miracles.

Isn’t it true that when we want something really badly we keep thinking about it over and over again? The thought gives us chills, tension and eventually mild to major panic attacks. But isn’t that ironic? The thing we actually want is something that’s going to give us immense joy. Then why does thinking about it give us anything but joy. That’s because we have it all wrong. We do not think about what we want but the way we would feel when it doesn’t happen. We are so scared of that feeling that it has a way of coming back to us. The way we start thinking about it is something like “Will I jinx it by thinking so much about it?” “If only that happens….” Or “What could possibly go wrong?”. We haven’t spent one second thinking how we’d feel when it actually happens. The fear of failure of the event not happening is enough to kill a person.

So here is something to try when you really really want something. First start believing it will happen. Then start thinking about how you’ll feel once it happens. Start thinking about all the things that will happen as a consequence of this event happening. Think about how much joy it will give you and your loved ones. If you genuinely have that thought in mind you’d notice that you’ll be smiling at that point. This thought is not going to be easy. It needs a lot of faith and belief and, if I have Rhonda Byrne figured out, this is what she means by “The Secret”. It is difficult only because most part of our lives have gone in safeguarding ourselves and preparing for disasters that we have never let ourselves believe that we can actually come good at the end of a problem. It is amazing how when you know the solution to a problem it ceases to be a problem anymore. The belief that whatever you have as a current situation will be solved and all the thoughts of the happy things that will follow has to be thought about just as often as we used to worry about when we thought otherwise. Every human is innately gifted with something called the ‘will’ and every human can manufacture his own will. Should one have the unswerving belief one can actually move mountains. The end of spirituality is just this that god exists as nothing but our own selves. Maybe that’s too much to digest yet but think about how you’ll feel when you have the thing that you actually want. I can see you smile!

Where's the money, honey?

Not much has been going in India apart from demonetization recently. Suddenly people are intrinsically rich but actually poor. The amount of money in circulation has gone down significantly and the bank coffers have gone up by INR 5.5 lakh crores. This was primarily touted as an attack on black money but now it has slowly started disrupting everyday lives of people. http://www.livemint.com/Opinion/RNdxOHenVluYuLx4iCw4JO/Modis-new-strike-against-black-money-backfires.html  This gives an idea of the people affected the worst. They have produce which is not durable and they don’t have people to sell their produce to. People do not have money in hand to buy vegetables and one cannot swipe at a local market. The salaried class who are primarily reliant organized trade for their daily consumption are facing the least disruption. The majority are reeling under cashlessness. Some of the most affected people are 1.        Vegetable vendors in local mark...

Being Single

The single guy is such a demeaning proposition. Unless someone has a “Single now” status a single status especially for a guy is such a troubling state of being. Single as a relationship status means a guy who is currently not involved with anyone from the opposite or his own sex. It pretty much means the same to a girl and the argument may not be largely different but let us concentrate on the trauma of the guy here. Generally guys do not seek a single status. Everybody is born with this status and depending on the age at which the guy becomes cognizant of this fact that he is actually relationshipless he starts bracing up to move away from this status. But here is the trouble. The “what” of the trouble is known, the “why of the issue is also pretty much understood but the “how” of the trouble is a perplexing one because there is not one technique that leads to a relationship. Let’s examine the very natural way of getting into a relationship, love. This is probably defined as the firs...

The Dream

It is important to dream big to achieve something big. I heard this line in a recent interview of Sachin Tendulkar. There is so much power in this statement. That particular dream gave him all the will power to become the most respected sports icon of the country. It’s the dream, a vision that fosters us with a certain scene and people like Sachin dedicate their lives to see that moment become a reality. If you are wondering why am I boring you with such an obvious testimony of a personality that every second Indian adulates, then things are just about to get interesting. I am writing to this to address a certain set of people who don’t have a dream, a la me. I don’t want to be the VP of my Co. 30 yrs down the line. Infact I don’t want to be the VP of any company. I don’t believe in what I am doing. Hence I don’t know what I want. I don’t have any vision of what my future should be like. I don’t aspire to be any one. I would love to see myself being interviewed on TV. But in that progr...
